Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women and as of 2021 it became the most common cancer globally, according to the World Health Organization. For women, breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer besides lung cancer, and, overall, Black women are more likely to die of the disease.

These organizations are supporting current and potential patients, as well as their loved ones, through direct service, research and education. Project Renewal brings mammograms directly to women with ScanVan; METAvivor is dedicated to women and men with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer; Young Survivors Coalition supports those diagnosed under 40; and Sharsheret specializes in helping Jewish women and families.
