About Us

Goodnation was founded in 2017 to direct more philanthropic resources towards projects that can transform our communities and country.

Goodnation’s work is guided by the desire to address urgent needs and create lasting impact.

We began this journey in 2017 believing in people’s generosity and our collective ability to solve problems. We understood that every new dollar had the potential to help and whether it did, or not, depended on how it was deployed. Giving is an important first step; creating impact with that gift is the hard part.

The resources we have been able to intermediate over the past few years (more than $60 million!) have directly powered change and supported projects and programs that are capable of transforming our communities and country.

While the mission remains the same, our efforts have evolved as we strive for greater impact. Our fiscal sponsorship program has grown to include dozens of projects innovating in critical areas like civic engagement, healthcare and criminal justice. Behind each program are passionate leaders and dedicated funders coming together to realize real change and create a more positive future.

To contribute directly to a better future, Goodnation has enhanced its Smartfunds to provide donors the opportunity to help directly, improve sectors and solve problems with a single gift. The Goodnation team, by focusing on lasting, systemic changes, has deepened our own understanding of how to scale transformation. We will carry that torch forward to illuminate our future path.

We remain optimistic about what a dedicated network of donors and nonprofit leaders can do to secure a better future for all of us.Thank you for being part of this collective effort to grow the good in our country and communities at this critical juncture. Together, we can create our Goodnation!

Our Structure

Goodnation employs a structure termed a contract hybrid, consisting of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called the Goodnation Foundation, a social enterprise called Goodnation Philanthropy Advisors, and a 501(c)(4) called Goodnation Action.

The three entities maintain independent boards of directors and agree to collaborate on a shared mission of attracting resources to tackle our country's and communities’ toughest challenges.

Goodnation Foundation directs all c3 donations according to the wishes of donors and in accordance with its mission, while Goodnation Action does the same for c4 donations.

Goodnation Philanthropy Advisors builds, staffs and supports the work in order to meet the needs of donors.
